Cheesecake Factory Restaurant Recipes - Why Should You Make Your Own Cheesecakes?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

If you truly love cheesecakes, that means you can never get enough of them. Unfortunately, good cheesecakes do not come cheap. Very few of us cheesecake lovers can afford to eat as much cheesecake as we like. There are three or four restaurants which make good cheesecakes, but I can only afford to eat there once a month (at least, if I want to save enough money to retire by 60). Fortunately, cheesecake factory restaurant recipes came to the rescue. Since both Mom and Sis like to cook, that's very good for me!

Now I get to indulge in a different type of cheesecake every week. With so many different cheesecake factory restaurant recipes available, I am spoiled for choice. I'm no longer limited by what my favorite restaurants offer. I am now able to try cheesecakes from 4-star and 5-star restaurants not within easy driving distance.

With a cheesecake factory cheesecake recipe, I know the cheesecake is going to taste great! I can't help eating one slice after another, non-stop, because everything is so smooth and well-blended. There is no lumpiness or sour taste common in cheesecakes from lower quality restaurants. It's practically like having a cheesecake factory right at home.

Both Mom and Sis love to cook. Most weeks, at least one of them will make cheesecakes. All I need to do is step over for a slice there and then, and grab a few more slices of cheesecake for the rest of the week's dessert. No more driving downtown or even out-of-town for my dessert. Oreo cheesecakes, New York cheesecakes, Chicago cheesecakes, English cheesecakes - you name it, I have the chance to try it.

With so many great recipes available, I can eat as many different kinds of delicious cheesecake as I like, as often as I like, without having a long drive and even longer wait at the restaurant. No more service charges, taxes and tips for hoity-toity waiters. Just drop in at Mom's or Sis' place for dinner.

Nasty Stuff From Tonsils? You Probably Have Tonsil Stones! Learn What They Are and Get Rid of Them!

If you have nasty stuff coming from your tonsils then you are in the right place. Tonsil stones are perhaps one of the nastiest things that our mouths can produce. The interesting thing about tonsil stones is that millions of people have them but very few know exactly what they are. You'll find plenty of doctors who have no idea what these things are or how they come about. The reason why medical research and diagnosis of tonsil stones has lagged behind other medical issues is simply because they are disgusting. People who have these tonsil stones are too embarrassed to take them to the doctor and figure out what they are. They typically chalk them up to bad oral hygiene and move on with their lives determined to clean their mouths even more thoroughly.

The problem with this resolution is simply the fact that your oral hygiene in the traditional sense cannot stop these tonsil stones from forming. I remember being obsessed with my tonsils as a child and getting them removed. The prospect of receiving unlimited amounts of ice-cream seemed too good to pass up. We usually learn all of our information about our tonsils as a child. We know that they are in our body trap to germs from entering our system. We also know that after a while they harbor germs and can in some cases turn on our bodies and start to harm us requiring their removal, thus the ice cream + removing tonsils story.

Most people, when nasty stuff starts forming on their tonsils think that they have some form of tonsil cancer or have pieces of a tumor breaking off. I know those thoughts certainly crossed my mind! The fowl stenches of these things are unbearable and actually made a friend of my throw-up. The truth of the matter is that there are few simple steps that you can take to reduce the amount of tonsil stones you develop.

First off these nasty white balls develop in the crypts of your tonsils. Yes your tonsils have crypts. Much like a golf ball with several dimples, your tonsils have holes and spaces where food and debris can accumulate. When food, debris, or germs get trapped in these crypts then white blood cells appear and try to attack them "the whitish/yellowish appearance". This results in a growing and persistent tonsil stone in the back of your throat. You'll start to feel as though a pearl is being developed and feel it grow every day. No matter how much coughing or gagging you do you really can't seem to get them to go away without the proper methods.

Here's where three things come in handy:

1) Buy a water-pik that has a large water-reservoir, a water-pik is basically a water pump connected to a small nozzle that will spray directed streams of water into various sections of your mouth. This is important because you need to make sure you can reach the spaces farther in the back of your throat where the tonsil stones reside.

2) Go to your local food store and buy some Grape Fruit Seed Extract (GSE) and add 2~3 drops of GSE in your water-pik reservoir. GSE acts as a natural antibiotic that will help prevent the growth of future invaders.

What Washing Machine?

C'mon now, we've all been there. Your old washing machine has just flooded the floor for the third time and the repairman has sucked in his breath (or just laughed in my case) at the suggestion that he might like to repair it! So, you think that you will buy another one instead but what washing machine do you go for? What can be so hard about choosing a new washing machine? Let's get down to the store quickly and buy one before the dirty washing takes over the house.

Half an hour later and you are stood in front of rows of gleaming machines. You wonder which one is the best buy for you. The salesman can smell the desperation and you just know he is going to try and sell you the most expensive one there. How can you avoid this situation? I have put together the following to help you think about what washing machine might suit you best. Most people have a fixed idea about how much they want to spend so the next important decision is about what other options you want.

How many washes a week do you and your family do?

A simple enough question, but it will make a big difference to all sorts of questions that might follow. For example, if you do a lot of washing you might want to think about what washing machine is going to be more reliable rather than be an 'all singing, all dancing' machine. Or, if you only do a couple of washes in a week or you live somewhere with no place to dry laundry, you might want to think about a combined washer and drier. More expensive machines seem to have more program options, but are you going to use them?

Are you worried about any impact on the environment?

There are washing machines on the market that offer short cycles or 'quick wash' (to save on energy.) Some offer half washes with only half the water normally used, all of which have less impact on the environment. I have to say that the short cycle is a blessing in many ways. With limited leisure time at weekends, the last thing I want to do is stay in because the washing machine hasn't finished! However, if your work means that you have dirty overalls or clothes every week or so, the short cycle is not good enough to get clothes really clean. It is wonderful for freshening up though.

Are you interested in whether the machine will be economical to run?

The other comparison you can do is to check the energy rating. All machines have a sticker on the front which shows which level they have been judged at for electrical economy. 'A' is the most economical, the further down the alphabet, the more electricity it will use and therefore the more expensive it is to run. However, be warned, I bought a washing machine that seemed to be economical to run, but when I started using it I found the normal wash took 2hrs! There wasn't a 'quick wash' cycle either. In one way I was saving money, but I wasn't saving on time. In my busy life, time is important for me. I should have paid more attention to what washing machine would wash the quickest instead of which one was the most economical.

I hope this helps you find what washing machine suits you and I am sure that you can think of more questions to ask (and think about the answers) - the more the better in fact, as that way you will end up with the washing machine that will suit you best.

A Bright Red Delicacy Fit For a King and For Your Wallet Too

Salmon roe are the eggs of salmon. Usually they are cured and used like other roe products such as caviar, which is derived from sturgeon roe and is enjoyed as a delicacy in Russian and in Eastern Europe. Salmon roe can be found in many seafood markets and Asian food stores, stocked in the chilled foods section; it is also available canned. Generally, it is less expensive than caviar, but it is still considered a delicacy by many. In Japan, it is called ikura and it is used to garnish sushi. In most other countries, it is simply known as salmon caviar to distinguish it from the original sturgeon caviar.

Salmon roe is harvested from female fish shortly before the spawning process. The eggs are cut out while the rest of the fish is processed for fillets etc. Usually, roe is preserved via salting, but it can also be cured in brine, eaten fresh, frozen, dried, or mixed into pates or spreads. Whole roe are more costly than crushed or compressed roe.

When choosing salmon roe, it should be crisp against your mouth and it should have a slightly salty flavor that doesn't become overwhelmed by oil. Greasy, soft roe is considered inferior.

You can prepare salmon roe in a variety of manners. For instance, combine butter, cream cheese, flour and salt in a food processor to form a dough. Chill for at least an hour, then flatten it into molds and bake until golden. Let cool. Once the pastry molds are at room temperature, spoon in yogurt, salmon roe and sprig of dill. This makes a great party appetizer.

To make sushi, gather a cup of prepared sushi rice, a sheet of nori, wasabi paste and roe. Shape the rice into a small oval and press the bottom side crosswise with your thumb. Cut the nori and wrap it around the rice ball. Dab a small amount of wasabi into each wrapped piece of rice. Finally, spoon in the salmon roe. Roe is also great for using in dips and with crudits. You can use it to top off blintzes and as garnish for pasta dishes. It's delicious on its own too.

Fondant and Candy Clay Differences

There are several differences between fondant and candy clay that are important to know before you start interchanging them in your cake and cookie designs.

Fondant can be made at home using simple to make ingredients. This is great because you can control what goes into it and coordinate your extract flavor with the cakes or cookies. This homemade fondant can be used immediately or have to sit overnight depending on the specific recipe. Some people find homemade fondant hard to work with of all the kneading involved and prefer to purchase it pre-made. There are so many different types of fondant on the market. Check out Fondarific, Satin Ice, Regalice, and Duff Goldman's new fondant. Most of these fondants can be purchased at cake decorating stores or online. Duff's fondant is sold exclusively at Michael's. Because of the difference between price and taste, you should go to online cake forums on Cake Central or Cakes We Bake and do a search so you can read the discussions on this topic. Go to company websites as well. There are some that send you samples for a small fee.

Don't like the taste of your fondant? Use concentrated flavors (not extracts) to compliment your cake. A little goes a long way so invest in the little droppers to get a little out at a time.

Want to use fondant to make a figure? You should use a 50/50 gumpaste with fondant blend because the fondant is too soft on its own to hold the shape. You can also add a little Tylose to your fondant to stiffen it up to use in this manner for figures. The fondant has to sit for several hours to allow the Tylose to do its job. Keep it sealed and away from your other fondant.

Candy Clay is delicious and can be made at home using candy melts and corn syrup. This turns into a ball of clay that needs to rest for 24 hours before using. Some decorators suggest that you "milk" the clay to remove most of the oil from it. This is a tedious process which can be extremely messy. You're basically soaking all of the oil out of the clay using paper towels. Do not use cheesecloth. It sticks to the candy clay and wants to stay there.

Candy Clay should be broken off in small pieces and kneaded gently to make pliable. Do not overknead it or the oils in it will rise up and you'll have a piece of clay you cannot use. Practice kneading it and then rolling it out to get used to how it works before starting your project. You can use it to create figurines and molds in the candy molds.

Two important differences to remember: 1) Do not use Crisco on your candy clay. It makes it shiny. Crisco can be used on your fondant to blend together paste or gel colors easily without dying your hands. 2) Hard fondant can be softened using the microwave in short bursts till it's pliable. Do not try that with your candy clay. It doesn't work.

Bottom 10 Supermarket Foods People Should Avoid If You Are Pre- Or Type 2 Diabetic

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Chicago, Illinois October 12, 2006 Center for Science in the Public Interest publishes worst foods list.

Becoming overweight or obese is a precursor to a pre or Type 2 diabetes prognosis.

That's why most doctors, on diagnosing a diabetic condition, immediately prescribe weight loss, cholesterol and blood pressure control for their patients.

The Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI), A Washington D.C.-based non-profit organization, has recently published a list of its Ten Foods You Should Never Eat.

These ten foods, cited as unusually high in calories, sodium and cholesterol content, are often viewed by consumers as 'healthy' or 'nutritious', but should be avoided by diabetics and everyone in general.

This list includes:

· Pepperidge Farm Original Flaky Crust Roasted Chicken Pot Pie. Containing more than 1,000 calories per pie, 31 grams of saturated fat the CSPI calls this an 'artery crust' builder containing far more than a day's allotment of Tran's fats.

· McDonald's Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips. Weighing in at 630 calories and "11 grams of artery clogging fat" and 1,550 mg of sodium, these healthy-appearing burger alternatives are worse than having a Big Mac.

· The Cheesecake Factory's 6 Carb Cheesecake. On a low carb Atkins diet? This won't help. Referred to as a 'factory reject', this low carb cheesecake has 610 calories and 29 grams of saturated fat (1 ½ days worth), making it, what the CSPI calls "an 8 ounce prime rib for dessert."

· Dove Ice Cream. 300 calories and 9 to 13 grams of saturated fat per tennis ball size scoop is what the CSPI reports, putting it in the same health threatening league as Ben & Jerry's and Haagen-Dazs.

· Mrs. Fields Milk Chocolate & Walnuts Cookie. Tipping the health scales at 300 calories per cookie and saturated fat levels greater than a 12 ounce sirloin steak, CSPI suggests consumers walk away from this one.

· Starbucks Venti Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino Blended Crème. Called a 'milkshake', it has over 770 calories and 19 grams of fat in it, CSPI calls it "the nutritional equivalent of a Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza that you sip through a straw.

· Burger King king size French fries have 600 calories and three-quarters of the daily maximum of heart rending fat. The "Coronary King."

· Campbell's Red and White label condensed soups have a half day's worth of sodium content
· Hershey Swoops chocolate candy contain 200 calories, 7-8 grams of fat and 4 teaspoons of sugar in each 6-Swoop pack

· Haagen-Dazs Mint Chip Dazzler packs 1,270 calories and 38 grams of fat or two days worth in one Dazzler. CSPI refers to it as "a portable T-bone steak with Caesar salad and baked potato with sour cream.

Find the Best H2O Water Systems to Protect Your Family's Health

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Let's face it, most of us are aware the water coming out of our taps is not as healthy or safe as it once was. Finding pure H20 water systems is essential today to safeguard the health of your family, so here is a guide to the main ones available.

Today there are many different types of pure H20 water systems ranging from countertop and showerhead filters to the more comprehensive whole house water systems. In addition you have three main sorts of filters.

The main filters are the kitchen jug type, reverse osmosis (RO) and carbon block ones.

Kitchen filters while convenient are too small to remove many harmful toxins and work out to be expensive in the long run with replacement filter costs. They do improve the taste by removing some of the chlorine but still put your health at risk.

Reverse osmosis filters are still popular but they are based on old technology and are unable to remove the small synthetic toxins but do remove essential trace minerals like potassium and calcium which you need to stay healthy.

They also tend to be expensive, require a lot of space and maintenance and discard two thirds of the water they use which is not good if you are metered or for the environment.

The very best pure H20 water systems available are active carbon block systems as their filters can manually remove toxins and chemically bind them to the filter's surface. The best ones have a multi step process with sub micron filtering and ion exchange to remove 99% of all the contaminants.

They also leave in those trace minerals which the World Health Organization states should be in our drinking water as we absorb them more easily than from any other source!

If you want all of the water you use to be safe, whole house water systems are the best choice because even when you bathe or especially shower you absorb more toxins than if you drank 2 liters of unfiltered water. This is because chlorine turns in chloroform vapour in the steam.

With over 2000 toxic chemicals in the supplies today and the inadequate and outdated municipal treatments, it is essential to get the best system to protect your family now and from whatever enters the supplies in the future.

Visit my website below if you would like to learn more about the types of water filtration systems that I personally recommend and use.

Decorations For Baby Showers

Looking for a surefire way to have everyone talking about your great baby shower weeks after the event is over? Here's the simple answer: set the mood from the moment the ladies walk into the party with fabulous decorations. Attractive and fun baby shower decorations add to the energy and fun of the event, and the secret to successfully choosing these decorations is simple: Set a theme! Having a theme instantly answers questions about all the other parts of the party: color, general decorations, wall decorations, table decorations and food.

Baby Shower Theme

The possibilities are literally endless. Let your imagination run wild while letting your financial circumstances set limits. Here are just a few ideas to get your party juices flowing fast:
Nursery Rhymes - A classic theme everyone can relate to. Tea Party - Perfect for those expecting a baby girl. Disney Characters - We all have fond memories of our Disney pals! Diaper Party - The baby will always have enough diapers to wear with this theme. Send out diaper cut-out invites, decor, and asks guests to bring diaper packets. Stuffed Animals Barefoot and Pregnant - Is the expectant mother the first one in her group to have a child? Let her know everyone's behind her by asking guests to come to a "Barefoot and Pregnant Party" dressed in stuffed shirts to signify their "pregnancy" (yes, even the male guests!).
Shower Food

The chosen theme can guide you in determining the color for the baby shower. But what if you have a theme that works with any color? Simple, you can always go with the classics: blue for an expected boy or pink for a girl. If the gender of the baby is unknown, yellow and green have traditionally been used. White has recently emerged as another gender-neutral shower color, signifying purity and innocence. So whatever color you decide on, make sure you use it to tie together the other elements of the baby shower.

General Decor

Whatever theme you choose for the baby shower, there are certain items every party, regardless of whether or not it's a shower, almost always should have. Banners, streamers, and, everybody's favorite, balloons. Balloons can also help guests figure out which house they're supposed to be at! Just tie some to a post or fence in the front of the house to signal your shower's location.

And is there any better way to remind everybody of the reason for the party than by having a decorated baby crib in a prominent area of the shower? Not only does it set the shower's tone perfectly, it can also serve as a gift table.

Table Decor

Finding great ways to dress a table for your shower is super easy. How about a baby-themed tablecloth with matching disposable napkins? You can use baby cloth diapers as placemats. Themed centerpieces are also popular baby shower decorations. To make a unique one, use stuffed animals holding small baskets filled with favors. Easy and fun!

To further add to the shower's light-hearted fun, have diapers decorated and hung with clothespins on clothes line. Put a stork outside the host's home to greet guests. Have napkin holders made from baby bracelets. Or how about cookies in baby or animal shapes? A favorite is to have a diaper cake... no, not a baked cake in the shape of square diapers, but a tower of diapers assembled in the shape of a traditional cake! And of course, fresh-cut flowers in the color of the theme are always a welcome addition to the party.

To "polish" the look and feel of your party, make sure you have matching tableware. Coordinating plates, cups, spoons, forks, and napkins go a long way toward establishing the theme of the festivities, and these supplies can be easily found in most party stores. For the tablecloth, white is the most classic color for it, and you can easily jazz it up for the occasion by sprinkling animal- or baby-shaped confetti on it.

Food

Home-made or store-bought, either way, plenty of food is key to a successful baby shower. Here are some ideas that have worked out well in parties that I've hosted or been to. A macaroons, chocolate candies, a layer cake, marshmallows, chocolate- or yogurt-covered raisins and nuts. All these items are available at your local grocers, I'm sure. Here's a favorite of mine: serving milk or vanilla ice cream in clear, plastic baby bottles! And to help keep guests' stomachs from grumbling during the gift opening, supply them with edible party favors: chocolate-covered almonds served in baby booties and tied together with a white ribbon.

There are tons of ways to successfully decorate your next baby shower. Hopefully, these ideas have gotten the ball rolling for you. Use your imagination to honor this special occasion and, at the same time, hone your creativity. Enjoy!

Four Amazing Points to Remember As to How to Keep Skin Healthy and Smooth

Every one of us wants to turn back the clock and look younger. Of course it should be the case. Why should we age before the time? Unless the largest organ in our body looks graceful we will never look graceful. It is a rightful question to ask how to keep skin healthy and smooth.

This is the most asked question. Obviously there are thousands of answers given. The result is confusion. Leave them aside and listen to this simple common sense approach.

We are made up of trillions of cells. The skin is also made up of trillions of cells. Unlike many internal organs, this organ is the most exposed to all that possibly we can subject it to. This is the outer cover of the human ball.

There are two essential ways as to how to keep skin healthy and smooth. One is inside out. What does that mean? Oral nutritious diet is important. There is no substitute for this. Unless the immune system is kept clean, neat and tidy it cannot nourish your skin. The best nutrition is the antioxidant nutrition. You should ensure that your nutrition is totally balanced all the time. This is one important point to remember.

The other point is outside in. This is specifically true to skin. After all external application of nutrition is also very important so that all the seven layers of the skin are properly nourished especially the outer layers where sagging and wrinkles will be conspicuous. Having said the first point, let us move on to important three other aspects as to how to keep skin healthy and smooth.

There are two important proteins in our body more pronounced in skin. They are called collagen and elastin. They are responsible to keep our skin healthy and smooth and taming the wrinkles. When we grow older obviously these proteins will lose their energy and tells upon our skin. While antioxidant nutrition can regenerate these proteins there is an active ingredient called cynergy TK. This is a breakthrough in skincare technology. It stimulates the re-growth of collagen, elastin and new skin cells. When these two proteins are rejuvenated your skin is bound to glow.

However there are always enemies within. In between collagen and elastin there is an extra cellular space filled up with a kind of fluid. This fluid provides moisten to the skin and offers few important jobs. There are many places in our body where blood does not go. It is also one of the places. This fluid takes the nutrition to the collagen and elastin and removes toxic from them. There is an acid in the fluid called hyaluronic acid. This is responsible to do these jobs. Unfortunately a kind of enzyme is produced to break down this hyaluronic acid which in turn does not perform its given job and destroys the collagen and elastin. How to take care of this damage to hyaluronic acid?

Researchers have found certain Japanese people live a very long and healthy life. Even at their age of 90 their skin glows and head is full of hair. It was found that a kind of sea kelp is responsible for that. Based on this kelp a branded active ingredient is developed. This is called Phytessence Wakame. This can inhibit the hyaluronidase and safeguard the hyaluronic acid. If this is provided to the skin from outside in the problem is resolved.

Having seen inside out, collagen and elastin (blocks) and hyaluronic acid (maintaining and moistening the blocks) we will come to the last part of our four amazing points as to how to keep skin healthy and smooth.

Generally free radicals are handled by antioxidant nutrition inside out. We take orally and it works in our body inside to scavenge free radicals. However the case of skin technology has so much advanced that certain nutrition in the form of nano-emulsion format can penetrate into the seven layers of the skin to offer this great job of neutralizing the free radicals. The ubiquonone Co-enzyme q10 is a fantastic antioxidant and it is available everywhere in our body. The branded active ingredient called Nano lipobelle HEQ10 can penetrate all the seven layers of the skin to scavenge the free radicals and ensure the hyaluronic acid does its job and collagen and elastin are protected. The skin has no alternative except to glow. Now you know the trick as to how to keep skin healthy and smooth.

Since I have done various research on this subject and I cannot be fooled by the various products that are available in the market one particular skin care offer meets the above amazing but simple skin care points. I have been using their products for a long time now and found very promising. If you want to know how to keep skin healthy and smooth you should not miss to visit my website. You will have more answers and what I told you above is a tip of the ice berg.

Commercial Ice Machine Buying Tips

Ice is one of simplest recipes you can ever make. To prepare it, you only need time. However, if you are in a restaurant business, time is not something you have. You need more ice at the quickest possible time. It is for this reason that a commercial ice machine has become very convenient.

Prior to buying a commercial ice machine, there are a few things you need to initially consider. First, you need to figure out the amount of ice you may need every day. Next, you need to make sure that your kitchen plumbing is in place so that it will be easier to fill your machine. Lastly, you need to decide on the type you prefer to serve. Options include shaved, cubes, round and the like.

When choosing an machine for your business, it is best to choose an icemaker according to the shape of ice you prefer. It is up to you if you prefer the round pebble ice or the cubed ones. The machine you will buy should compliment the beverages you will be serving.

The types of commercial ice machine options vary. This includes machines for snow cone, for shaved, and for block ice. There are also portable icemakers and ice dispensers/makers. As a useful guide to ice machines, most modern commercial ice machine models feature shut off switches which prevents them form overfilling the actual machine.

These machines also have sanitation standards set by the local health department; it is important you check this with them. This is since ice dispensers were found to harbor numerous dangerous bacteria like e-coli when they're not regularly and properly sanitized. To reduce energy costs, the best place for your commercial machine is at the coolest part of your place.

Cuisinart ICE 50BC Supreme Ice Cream Maker is a fully automatic 1 ½ quart sorbet, frozen yogurt and ice cream maker. It features a commercial-style compressor freezer and brushed stainless steel housing. It also has a 60-minute timer and precise temperature controls. It measures 13.5 by 17 by 13.6 inches.

Deni 6200 Commercial Ice Crusher is another fully automatic commercial ice machine to consider. It has a quiet heavy duty motor and stainless steel housing. It is easy to use and access ice chute. It measure 12 by 9 by 18 inches. It weighs 12 lbs.

Wedding Planning Ideas - Wedding Cakes

The cake!

Your cake should be a special and unique as you are. But there are so many choices out there you may get overwhelmed. Here are a few pointers that may help you to get inspired:

* Consider your wedding location and date. Just like flowers cakes have seasons. Summer weddings or wedding where it is hot wouldn't treat an ice-cream cake well. Talk to your baker they will be able to provide you with valuable insight when choosing the type of cake you would like and what would be practical.

* Take into account how many guests you will have when choosing the shape and size of your cake.

* You don't have to choose a flavor and run with it, because wedding cakes have tiers you can choose a different flavor for each, satisfying your desire for something different, and giving guests a choice they will be sure to appreciate.

* Your icing can be a bold as your love for one another, choosing something to match your wedding theme, or go wild and make your cake a real piece of art!

* When choosing your cake topper consider the season of your wedding, also consider if you want the traditional bride and groom or something a bit more daring. You can pretty much top a wedding cake with anything. If your having a fall wedding you cake could be topped with small pumpkins set in silk leaves, or if your theme is more of a floral whimsical one you can adorn your cake with a ball of flowers in a halo of ribbons.

No matter what you choose, there are lots of hints and tips to be found online, do a little research, find what fits you the most!

Dyson DC25 Animal - Review

The Dyson DC25 Animal vacuum is Dyson's headline - top of the range vacuum. Dyson are currently running a high profile advertising campaign so its likely that you will have seen this model on the television.

This Dyson DC25 Animal review will attempt to cut through the hype surrounding the adverts and help you decide whether it is the right vacuum for you. The DC25 review will cover the main area which could affect your buying decision - its main selling point - "the ball".

The Dyson Ball

The main selling point of the Dyson ball vacuum range is the fact that the ball allows much better maneuverability than traditional vacuums. There are videos on Youtube that show how easy the Dyson DC25 Animal is to maneuver. One video shows a child doing the vacuuming with ease. The DC25 is lighter than nearly all dyson's other vacuums in the animal range (with the exception the dc25's little brother, the dc24 which is also a ball vacuum). This reduced weight also adds to the maneuverability.

If you have your heart set on a Dyson vacuum and want it to be an upright but do not have any specific requirements, its worth taking a look at the bottom of the range Dyson first - the Dyson DC07. The Dc07 does not have all the fancy features of pricier models in the dyson range but is just as powerful.

The Dyson DC25 animal vacuum it more suitable to people who:

A) Have hairy pets such as cats or dogs

B) Have asthma or allergies (British allergy foundation approved)

C) Have problems maneuvering heavy vacuums.

If you fit one of more of the above then the dc25 could be suitable for you.

Potential of an Exquisite Logo in Business

In the era of globalization, many entrepreneurs have entered the business world. The globalization has made it feasible for these marketers to promote their businesses at the worldwide level. This has given rise to competition in the marketplace. Marketers employ various innovative ways to gain recognition in the competitive world. For this purpose, they utilize many branding elements. Creating a logo for a company is one of the ways to display inimitable and artistic pursuits of an organization. The main aim of creating an elusive logo is to not only convey the message or include the initials of a company in a fashionable style. A striking logo also aims at leaving an everlasting and positive impression on the minds of the prospective customers.

A designer can create a unique logo in a number of ways. One should design a trademark for the company in a way so that it elicits immediate recognition of an organization. In other words, a designer should design a logo that reflects the nature and vision of a company. For instance, a company that deals with ice cream and ice cream related products should not have a logo that relates to apparel or shoe manufacturing industry. Therefore, a company should design a logo that reflects the business with which it deals. A trademark should convey the personality, attitude, character, goal and belief of an organization. A designer should design a company's graphic symbol in an attractive manner so that a potential customer can associate his feelings with the product. In other words, a customer should have a feeling of familiarity with the product. A designer should design a logo in a way so that the product appears authentic and credible. You can make the product appear authentic by creating a logo that appears completely original. Creation of a trademark involves creating and using designs or graphics that does not have even minute resemble with any other company's logo. You should avoid using lavish designs in a logo. Simple appearance of a logo can render elegance and magnetic appeal.

There are many logo design services offering logo services to many companies. Before selecting any service, you should find out about the working process of a company. You should also find out about the company's credentials and certification before making a final selection.

Coffee and Ice Cream - The Perfect Mix For Profits

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Coffee shop owners are always looking for a new product to add to their product offerings in order to increase traffic and profits. If you are looking for the perfect mix with your coffee shop, consider a frozen confection - ice cream or gelato.

There are several reasons I would recommend this over other products.

Less waste - frozen confections tend to produce much less product waste than other types of food goods. If kept properly, it does not spoil. Often there is (initially, at least) much waste with deli items or baked goods.

Quick preparation - as quick as grabbing a dish, the scoop and ringing it up.

High profits - cost of goods is usually very low for ice cream, either soft serve or hand dipped.

Business over slow day parts - ice cream can sell very well during traditionally slow day parts, just after lunch, early and late evening.

Less staff training - this product generally requires less staff training and supervision.

Widely popular in many forms - serving ice cream gives you the opportunity to introduce new consumers to your shop who may not enjoy the finer points of your specialty coffee operation.

Inexpensive equipment - the equipment is generally readily available, and can be very inexpensive when purchased used.

Frozen desserts draw people together in much the same way coffee does. It is a social, enjoyable treat that brings together friends and encourages group outings - a popular treat after softball games, soccer matches, and other team events.

If you choose to serve ice cream or gelato, consider the flavors that might go best in your locale and how you might market it.

Breakfast Cereals Beer Brewing

Overpowering the Heartbreak of Cyclical Food Addiction

If you, like so many people around the world have lived with being overweight, then you know the nightmare, pain, and heartbreak that goes along with that condition. Very often you suffer in silence because you are too ashamed and overwhelmed with the hopelessness of it all to talk about it with anyone else. As ridiculous as it seems, you find solace in the relationship where you have found the most comfort in your life: You find your comfort in a bowl of ice cream, a greasy cheese burger, a plate of pasta, etc. It's a vicious cycle that repeats itself over and over and it intensifies the problem and drives you into a deep hole of despair and defeat.

There are times when you pull together all the strength that you can and march boldly into a diet program that you have confidence will work and will change you and your body image forever. You jump in head first and even throw in a rigorous exercise program to further insure your results. In fact you even begin to see the results. Your body begins to melt away in places that you thought would never budge. You buy new clothes because the old ones are hanging off of your body. You start getting compliments and you are bursting with pride and a healthy sense of self-satisfaction.

Then it happens. You don't see it coming; you find yourself in front of your favorite food. Like reuniting with an old friend, the food never looked so good to you. You get carried away by your senses. The smell is captivating, your mouth slowly begins to water, and in your mind you can already taste the food. Before you know it you are not only eating the food, but abandoning your goals and dreams of becoming slim and healthy.

The thing to understand in this situation and the thought that I want to firmly plant in your mind is this: YOU can gain control over the food you eat and over the eating habits that you have developed. There is no unseen force operating outside of you that made you eat that food. Subconsciously you wanted that food more than you wanted to achieve your goal of lasting permanent weight-loss. Your slip was an issue of Self-Sabotage. That one incident simply started the ball rolling and before you knew it you were right back where you started. Now the pain is more intense and the failure looms before you like an unmovable fortress.

If this scenario is familiar to you, you know that what I have just described is not a once in a lifetime happening in the life of a food addict. It is a cycle that repeats itself over and over and over. To a food addict this force is every bit as intoxicating as alcohol is to an alcoholic. It is familiar, it is comfortable, and it is soothing. While weight-loss was wonderful and temporarily empowering, it was unfamiliar; in fact in a very real way it was frightening.

The length and scope of this article does not allow for an in-depth discussion of all of the issues related to the cycle of binging and dieting or the reasons for and the solutions to obesity, but I will attempt to provide some insight on these subjects. In a nutshell, the issues are seated in the mental concepts that a person develops about food and their own self-concept from the moment that they are awakened to the soothing power that food can provide them.

Regardless of your weight-loss and the slender image that you see emerging from within yourself, you still see yourself as FAT. You have always seen yourself as fat and at least on a subconscious level you believe that you will always be FAT. And as you know, a fat person will always behave like a fat person. It is painful and you live with it. To soothe the pain, you eat. As the pain gets worse, you eat more, and more and more.

To put it simplistically, to break the cycle of food addictions you must begin to not only take outward measures to shed the weight, but inwardly you must begin to do the work to mentally strengthen self-concept of your body image. As you begin to meditate, journal, and formulate a new thinner self-concept, your body will follow your mind's lead. You will begin to develop new and healthier eating habits. Thin people eat healthy foods. Thin people exercise regularly. As the image of who you are physically changes, the way you eat and care for your body will change and your life will begin to change. It may sound like a difficult and impossible plan, but remember the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Take the first step; you may be surprised at where it will lead you.

Replace the Ice Maker in Your Refrigerator

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Most refrigerators come with an ice maker that is built in. When the appliance breaks, you have several options to fixing the problem.

1. You can replace the broken part with parts from the same refrigerator manufacturer.

2. Buy a similar third party replacement part.

3. Buy a new ice maker that is compatible with your refrigerator.

It is best to stick with original manufacturing parts. I also recommend you to check the homeowners manual to be sure you don't void the warranty of your appliance.

There are some things to consider when purchasing a new ice maker. The shape of the cube, the size and the mechanism in which ice is distributed are important factors. Most of these factors are determined by the refrigerator manufacturer. So with that in mind it will help your narrow down your field of choices.

One example is ice can be dispensed through an internal storage bin by opening the door or it can simply be dispensed through a door dispenser. Add-on ice makers are always internal, so this would not be appropriate replacement for refrigerators that have door dispensers.

The size and shape of the cube is also important. It is important that the replacement part using a door dispenser use the same shape of size as the original ice maker, if the cube is not the same size and shape the dispenser will not work.

Most ice makers last six to ten years. Most replacement parts come with a 90-day warranty in case they are defective or fail. If you plan to replace the parts yourself make sure to unplug the device from the power source. Refer to the manual or instructions that came with the replacement parts for complete instructions. If you are unsure of replacing the parts yourself, it is best to hire a repair man.

The Cuisinart ICE 20 - A Great Homemade Ice Cream Maker

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The Cuisinart ICE 20 is an automatic electric ice cream maker that is capable of serving from one to 1-1/2 quarts of desert in approximately 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the recipe used. It is also is able to chill old-fashioned flavored ice cream to a perfect consistency with no salt or ice. This model takes approximately 8 hours for the chilling chamber to freeze its liquid when placed in the freezer. A double insulated freezer bowl and automatic mixing arm stirs the ice cream ingredients for one of the lightest and creamiest desserts ever made in a machine.

Once the chamber of the Cuisinart ICE 20 is locked in place, the ingredients are placed into an opening at the top. The advantage of having an automatic model is that stirring or mixing ingredients is not necessary as the machine does it all. When done, the paddle will begin to churn for a 20 minute minimum. The food that is placed inside the chamber will chill to the correct consistency because the paddle has been developed to churn the air.

Once the homemade ice cream develops the right denseness, fun stuff to add to the flavor are chopped fruit and chocolate chips. The Cuisinart ICE 20 is also able to quickly make low-fat frozen yogurts, frozen yogurt, sorbet and fat-free sorbets. One of the best makers of homemade desert, this automatic machine is perfect for the average sized family or small groups of people. An additional Cuisinart one and half quart freezer bowl can be purchased for a spare for unexpected parties or a fun family get-together where more desert is needed to be made. Depending on the size of the group, several bowls can be purchased to make ice cream in advance.

A safe machine, the Cuisinart ICE 20 has a transparent top which can be locked in place for safety and also monitoring of the making process. Weighing 9 pounds and measuring 10-inches by 10-inches by 15-inches, it has a 3 year warranty in case something goes wrong, in addition to an instruction booklet with delicious recipes. After the homemade ice cream is made and enjoyed, the nonstick chamber can be easily cleaned up for the next batch. Of the many types of desert maker available, Cuisinart is considered one of the top brands that is affordable, safe, and easy to clean.

Shopping For Food Processors

Food Processors

This is a kitchen appliance that most homes simply cannot do without. It is used in various steps of meal preparation - from grating cheeses and chopping herbs to slicing vegetables and making bread dough. It comes with various attachments such as sharp metal blades, metal slicing disks, shedding disk and plastic dough blades.

Purchasing a Food Processor

When shopping for this appliance, there are several things that you need to consider, and the most important is your particular use for the appliance. You want to think of the types of food preparations that you will need a processor for. For instance, if you're one to knead dough or crush ice more frequently than usual, you want to get a model that comes with a heavy-duty motor.

Features

A lot of processors come with only one motor speed and many also have small tube openings that allow you to add ingredients easily. You want to go for a machine that also has a pulse button so you can give small bursts of power for rough chopping and for dough kneading. You might also want a model that has a smooth touch pad controls for easier clean up (compared to raised buttons). It's also important to have a processor with dishwasher safe parts particularly if you're not too keen on hand washing.

Capacity

When shopping for a processor, you also need to consider the capacity. Processors come in different sizes - from the three-cup choppers to the 20-cup versions that are usually found in restaurant kitchens. Your choice of size should depend on how many people you tend to cook for and the types of recipes you normally prepare using the appliance. If you are cooking for your family of four, for instance, you want an 11-cup processor. For small quantities of sauces or for chopping small amounts of nuts and herbs, go for a model that comes with a small blade and work bowl.

Attachments

As earlier mentioned, food processors come with a variety of attachments designed to maximize their utility. However, before you even think of purchasing a processor that comes with practically ever attachment you can think of - from blades and disks to kneaders and juicers - you want to assess whether or not you really use these things in the first place. If not, opt for a processor with just the basics. You'll be surprised at how many things you can already do with just the fundamental attachments.

Selling a Business - Why the Letter of Intent is So Important

A Letter Of Intent, or LOI, is an "intermediate" document drafted and submitted to you by the buyer.

I say intermediate, because it is not the final contract. But it spells out the major elements of the sale the buyer and seller have agreed to so far. Typically, you will accept a Letter Of Intent and then enter into a period of exclusive negotiations with just one buyer.

The Elements Of The Letter Of Intent

Selling Price & Terms - Amount of cash down, interest rate and term as well as description of the security the buyer is providing the seller.

Structure - Is it an asset or stock sale? How is the sale price allocated among different elements of the sale such as non-compete clause and goodwill (this is important for tax reasons and is discussed in the next section).

Deadlines - How much time is the buyer requesting to complete the due diligence process and what is the proposed closing date? The buyer may also place a time limit (usually a week) on the seller to accept or decline the LOI itself.

Contingencies - The buyer's offer is contingent upon certain keys facts being confirmed. One example may be confirming that the current lease is transferable to the new owner. Also, their willingness to buy is contingent upon the due diligence period confirming that everything you have stated about the business is true.

Some Facts to Keep in Mind About The Letter Of Intent

1.) Don't accept an LOI that grants the buyer exclusive negotiation rights unless the Due Diligence period is short. 10-20 days of DD is sufficient for most small businesses. Some buyers will ask for exclusivity and a 2 month DD period. Your other prospects will eventually lose interest, leaving you with just one buyer. Then your one buyer will start asking for all sorts of concessions from you.

2.) Some buyers will want to skip the LOI and instead submit a full purchase contract. They figure, why should they pay their lawyer to draw up both documents. But a purchase contract requires a significant amount of time and attorneys fees to draft. Once the buyer has made this big investment in legal fees, it puts a lot of pressure on them that is detrimental to the negotiating process.

Better to encourage them from the start to go the LOI route.

3.) Hopefully, by this point you have developed more than one prospect. If you receive LOI s from more than one prospect don't just accept the one with the highest price. Be sure to take into account all the details of the offer as well as the qualifications and background of the buyer. This is especially true if you are financing part of the sale - getting a slightly higher price from a weaker buyer who runs the business into the ground and then doesn't pay you is of no benefit.

4.) It is perfectly all right to negotiate the contents of the LOI with the buyer before you have accepted it

If your most qualified prospect submits a Letter Of Intent that includes a lower price and more generous terms than you had wanted or a less qualified buyer has submitted a more attractive LOI, then now is the time to negotiate with the stronger prospect.

It's almost impossible to improve the deal once you have accepted (by signing) the Letter Of Intent. However, the buyer may find reasons to re-negotiate a lower price during the due diligence phase.

The Letter Of Intent you accept will be the best deal you will ever get.

Your selling memorandum, your recast financial statements, all your follow up communications with buyer and your tour of the facilities should all serve to justify your asking price. If the buyer has any objections or concerns about your asking price you want them to express them now rather than later.

Never be afraid to hear negative feedback or objections from the buyer - it means you will always know where you stand and gives you a chance to deal head on with their objections. And as far as disagreements over price go, the time to deal with them is before you accept the Letter Of Intent.

10 Quick & Easy Ways to Make Ice Cream Interesting

Everybody loves to eat ice cream in the hot weather, but have you ever wondered how you could make plain old ice cream more interesting? I am going to share with you 10 quick and easy ways to do just that. Providing you have the ingredients at hand, none of these ideas should take more than a few minutes to prepare.

01. Nuts - One of the easiest ways to spice up your dessert is to buy a bag of your favourite nuts or a bag of mixed nuts if you prefer. Put a little hole in the bag (but not big enough for the nuts to come out) and compress until all the air is removed, then take something hard and smash the nuts up in the bag. Simply sprinkle the broken nuts onto your ice cream and mix them in.

02. Strawberry, Coconut - Something I like to make which is really easy and the kids love, chop up some fresh strawberries and place in a mixer with some vanilla ice cream and then add a bag of coconut flakes. Mix for a few seconds but don't overdo it. This is really good inside chocolate eclairs.

03. Oooh, Saucy - Most people would use some sauces to liven up their dessert, but the usual chocolate or strawberry sauce can become a bit tedious. I like to use some sauces which are a bit different: apple sauce, lemon sauce, honey or syrup, mocha chocolate sauce, caramel sauce or rhubarb sauce.

04. Marshmallow, Chocolate & Honey - Take a bag of mini marshmallows and slowly mix them into some vanilla along with a crushed up bar of chocolate and a few drizzles of honey. Garnish with a sprig of mint. This idea is perfect if you are trying to impress party guests or even your partner.

05. Banana Splits - This is probably one of the easiest things to make but some people never do. Slice a peeled banana in half (lengthways) and place in a dish. Add a few scoops of your favourite flavour (vanilla is probably my favourite). Squirt a little squirty cream around the banana and ice cream then sprinkle a few broken nuts and drizzle a little strawberry sauce or honey over the top to finish it off.

06. Peanut Butter Jelly - One of Kathy's favourite things is peanut butter so I made this for her and she absolutely loved it. Take some vanilla ice cream and add a few spoonfulls of peanut butter and also a few spoonfulls of your favourite jelly, mix gently to combine, but not too much. Serve in a bowl with wafers and sprinkle a few chopped nuts over the top.

07. Apricot - If you are partial to apricots then this one is for you. Take a few dried apricots and chop into tiny pieces and mix into your favourite vanilla along with some apricot sauce. This is really good when your sat outside on hot, sunny days.

08. Cookies - Cookies are a really good snack, but cookie dough ice cream is much better. Either make your own chocolate chip cookie dough or use Nestle's Toll House ready made cookie dough and break it up into pieces and mix with some vanilla ice cream, delicious. You may also want to drizzle a little caramel sauce over the top too.

09. Fresh Mint - This is one of my personal favourites because I love the taste of fresh mint. Take about 6 or 7 sprigs of mint and chop very finely or use a blender (saves time) then mix into your vanilla ice cream. I like to place this back into the freezer for 30 minutes or so to allow the mint flavour to penetrate the ice cream.

10. Rum & Raisin - This is for adults only. Soak a couple of handfulls of raisins in some rum overnight then add the raisins and the remaining rum into your vanilla ice cream and mix until the ice cream turns a light brown colour (add a little more rum if needed). We recommend not driving after this one.

Recipes For Iced Coffee, Frappuccinos and More!

I love everything coffee: hot coffee, iced coffee, coffee ice cream, coffee-flavored candy. The only thing I do not like about coffee is how much they are charging now-a-days for a cup! You can easily pay up to $5.00 for a specialty coffee. I know. I have done it and will likely do it again and again and again. Why? Because I LOVE coffee.

Luckily I work from home and make my own coffee 95% of the time. I am very picky about the coffee that I buy. I tend to stick with Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts-brand coffee when they go on sale and I have coupons. I am so glad that I do not work out of the home because I know that I would be among those that go through the drive-through for my cup of coffee just about every day. I just know it!

I just ran across a couple of facts regarding those who do go through the drive-through often:

1. People who buy coffee primarily at drive through windows on their way to work will spend as much as 45 hours a year waiting in line.

2. The average person who buys coffee outside the office to consume at work will spend the equivalent value of a round trip plane ticket to Florida every year.

WOW! Can you believe that? Thank God I make my coffee at home! I can drink coffee all day every day. However, when it is 100 degrees outside, a HOT cup of coffee just does not sound appealing to me; therefore, I decided to look up a few Summer coffee recipes since going to Starbucks everyday is definitely not an option for me. I do not have the time nor the money to spend going through a drive-through to get a good cup of coffee! Besides, I want to be in control of what I put in my coffee since I am trying to cut back on my calories. Have you looked up the calories contained in some of those drinks?

Note: You can purchase all of the specialty syrups used in Starbucks drinks at any Starbucks store! You can also go online and order DaVinci Gourmet Syrup at only $7.99 a bottle. DaVinci syrups have no calories and they are sugar free! I have searched several stores on several occasions for DaVinci syrup, but have not had any luck. Your luck might be better than mine, but, if not, you can go online. Some of the following are copycat recipes from one of your favorite coffee stores!

Iced Coffee:

1. Start with a rich flavorful coffee.

2. You can make your coffee in advance or let it cool, although I find that just filling my glass up with ice and pouring the hot coffee over it works just fine!

3. Add cream and sugar or a sugar substitute. You can also try adding a little syrup. We even tried sugar free pancake syrup because we ran out of sweetener and it tasted great!

Coffee Popsicles:

Mix your coffee how you like it and just freeze. You can use a Popsicle mold or ice cube tray. You can even put these ice cubes in your iced coffee!

Caramel Macchiato:

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons Vanilla Syrup
1/2 cup fresh brewed Espresso (You will have to have an Expresso machine.)
8 ounces steamed milk (You actually do not need an Expresso machine to make steamed milk. See how to steam milk here!)
3 to 4 tablespoons Caramel Sauce or Caramel Syrup

Instructions
Add vanilla syrup to 16 oz glass.
Add steamed milk and caramel sauce/syrup and stir well.

Coffee Frappe:
Ingredients:
18 -22 Ice cubes, crushed
7 ounces Double-strength coffee, chilled
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons flavored syrup of choice (vanilla, hazelnut, raspberry or other)

Whipped cream

Java Chip Frappuccino:
Ingredients:
4 tablespoon chocolate syrup
4 tablespoon chocolate chips (you can substitute sugar free chocolate cut up into pieces)
4 cups double-strength freshly brewed dark roast coffee
Chopped or crushed ice
Whipped cream (optional)
Chocolate syrup (for drizzle, optional)

Fill blender half full with chopped or crushed ice. Add all ingredients (except whipped cream) and blend until thick and still icy. Pour into 4 tall glasses, top with whipping cream and drizzle chocolate over the whipped cream.

Mocha Frappe:
Instructions:
Fill blender half full with chopped or crushed ice. Add all ingredients (except whipped cream) and blend until thick and still icy. Pour into 4 tall glasses, top with whipping cream and drizzle chocolate over the whipped cream.

Instructions
Place the ice, coffee, sugar and syrup in a blender. Blend until the frappe is smooth. Pour into a large, tall glass. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.

Java Float:
Ingredients:
4 tablespoon chocolate syrup
1 tablespoon chocolate chips (substitute sugar free chocolate as above)
2 cups club soda or sparkling water, chilled
4 scoops coffee ice cream (look for sugar free or low carb ice cream)

Instructions

In each of 2 tall glasses, stir together 2 Tbsp. of chocolate syrup and 1 cup club soda. Place 2 scoops of ice cream in each glass and serve immediately.

Enjoy your cup of coffee this Summer while saving time and money!
