Instant Sanka Coffee with Lucy & Desi

Three things I can't stand are pre-popped popcorn, cheap ice cream or instant coffee!! That said, I wonder what this granulated stuff in the ugly jar taste like?!? But I enjoy watching Lucy and Desi plug it, with Desi's three manicures in one day...

Coffee and Ice Cream - The Perfect Mix For Profits

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Coffee shop owners are always looking for a new product to add to their product offerings in order to increase traffic and profits. If you are looking for the perfect mix with your coffee shop, consider a frozen confection - ice cream or gelato.

There are several reasons I would recommend this over other products.

Less waste - frozen confections tend to produce much less product waste than other types of food goods. If kept properly, it does not spoil. Often there is (initially, at least) much waste with deli items or baked goods.

Quick preparation - as quick as grabbing a dish, the scoop and ringing it up.

High profits - cost of goods is usually very low for ice cream, either soft serve or hand dipped.

Business over slow day parts - ice cream can sell very well during traditionally slow day parts, just after lunch, early and late evening.

Less staff training - this product generally requires less staff training and supervision.

Widely popular in many forms - serving ice cream gives you the opportunity to introduce new consumers to your shop who may not enjoy the finer points of your specialty coffee operation.

Inexpensive equipment - the equipment is generally readily available, and can be very inexpensive when purchased used.

Frozen desserts draw people together in much the same way coffee does. It is a social, enjoyable treat that brings together friends and encourages group outings - a popular treat after softball games, soccer matches, and other team events.

If you choose to serve ice cream or gelato, consider the flavors that might go best in your locale and how you might market it.

Recipes For Iced Coffee, Frappuccinos and More!

I love everything coffee: hot coffee, iced coffee, coffee ice cream, coffee-flavored candy. The only thing I do not like about coffee is how much they are charging now-a-days for a cup! You can easily pay up to $5.00 for a specialty coffee. I know. I have done it and will likely do it again and again and again. Why? Because I LOVE coffee.

Luckily I work from home and make my own coffee 95% of the time. I am very picky about the coffee that I buy. I tend to stick with Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts-brand coffee when they go on sale and I have coupons. I am so glad that I do not work out of the home because I know that I would be among those that go through the drive-through for my cup of coffee just about every day. I just know it!

I just ran across a couple of facts regarding those who do go through the drive-through often:

1. People who buy coffee primarily at drive through windows on their way to work will spend as much as 45 hours a year waiting in line.

2. The average person who buys coffee outside the office to consume at work will spend the equivalent value of a round trip plane ticket to Florida every year.

WOW! Can you believe that? Thank God I make my coffee at home! I can drink coffee all day every day. However, when it is 100 degrees outside, a HOT cup of coffee just does not sound appealing to me; therefore, I decided to look up a few Summer coffee recipes since going to Starbucks everyday is definitely not an option for me. I do not have the time nor the money to spend going through a drive-through to get a good cup of coffee! Besides, I want to be in control of what I put in my coffee since I am trying to cut back on my calories. Have you looked up the calories contained in some of those drinks?

Note: You can purchase all of the specialty syrups used in Starbucks drinks at any Starbucks store! You can also go online and order DaVinci Gourmet Syrup at only $7.99 a bottle. DaVinci syrups have no calories and they are sugar free! I have searched several stores on several occasions for DaVinci syrup, but have not had any luck. Your luck might be better than mine, but, if not, you can go online. Some of the following are copycat recipes from one of your favorite coffee stores!

Iced Coffee:

1. Start with a rich flavorful coffee.

2. You can make your coffee in advance or let it cool, although I find that just filling my glass up with ice and pouring the hot coffee over it works just fine!

3. Add cream and sugar or a sugar substitute. You can also try adding a little syrup. We even tried sugar free pancake syrup because we ran out of sweetener and it tasted great!

Coffee Popsicles:

Mix your coffee how you like it and just freeze. You can use a Popsicle mold or ice cube tray. You can even put these ice cubes in your iced coffee!

Caramel Macchiato:

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons Vanilla Syrup
1/2 cup fresh brewed Espresso (You will have to have an Expresso machine.)
8 ounces steamed milk (You actually do not need an Expresso machine to make steamed milk. See how to steam milk here!)
3 to 4 tablespoons Caramel Sauce or Caramel Syrup

Instructions
Add vanilla syrup to 16 oz glass.
Add steamed milk and caramel sauce/syrup and stir well.

Coffee Frappe:
Ingredients:
18 -22 Ice cubes, crushed
7 ounces Double-strength coffee, chilled
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons flavored syrup of choice (vanilla, hazelnut, raspberry or other)

Whipped cream

Java Chip Frappuccino:
Ingredients:
4 tablespoon chocolate syrup
4 tablespoon chocolate chips (you can substitute sugar free chocolate cut up into pieces)
4 cups double-strength freshly brewed dark roast coffee
Chopped or crushed ice
Whipped cream (optional)
Chocolate syrup (for drizzle, optional)

Fill blender half full with chopped or crushed ice. Add all ingredients (except whipped cream) and blend until thick and still icy. Pour into 4 tall glasses, top with whipping cream and drizzle chocolate over the whipped cream.

Mocha Frappe:
Instructions:
Fill blender half full with chopped or crushed ice. Add all ingredients (except whipped cream) and blend until thick and still icy. Pour into 4 tall glasses, top with whipping cream and drizzle chocolate over the whipped cream.

Instructions
Place the ice, coffee, sugar and syrup in a blender. Blend until the frappe is smooth. Pour into a large, tall glass. Garnish with a dollop of whipped cream.

Java Float:
Ingredients:
4 tablespoon chocolate syrup
1 tablespoon chocolate chips (substitute sugar free chocolate as above)
2 cups club soda or sparkling water, chilled
4 scoops coffee ice cream (look for sugar free or low carb ice cream)

Instructions

In each of 2 tall glasses, stir together 2 Tbsp. of chocolate syrup and 1 cup club soda. Place 2 scoops of ice cream in each glass and serve immediately.

Enjoy your cup of coffee this Summer while saving time and money!

Serve Sticky Buns For Your Coffee Klatsch Or Afternoon Tea

Image : http://www.flickr.com

When you put out the coffee and tea for everyone, include sticky buns in place of cookies or cake. You will receive rave notices! Perhaps you think of cinnamon rolls when you hear the term "sticky buns". They are similar but there are distinct differences. Both start with sweet yeast bread dough but that is where the similarities end!

Cinnamon rolls or buns consist of substantial 'bread like' layers with cinnamon in between and white frosting on top. Sticky buns are very thin layers which are achieved through rolling and stretching of the dough. It is then spread with melted butter, chopped dried fruits (currants and raisins are typical), sugar and imported Vietnamese cinnamon.

The dough is then rolled and cut into pieces which are placed into pans which have been prepared with a light caramel sauce and nuts. Once baking is complete, the pan is quickly inverted so that the "sticky" can run down between the layers. Now they are ready to enjoy! Or ship to friends as gifts or pop into your freezer for future use.

Variations on this theme have produced some very exciting "gourmet" buns for a special treat or addition to a more exotic menu. A variety of fruits, citrus zests, an assortment of nuts and incorporation of brandy or liqueurs elevates this tasty treat to new heights!

Include this unexpected confection as a buffet item or a dessert for all your special occasions: baby and wedding showers, birthday and graduation celebrations, Valentine day dinner, house warming and Easter dinner. Bridge or other party spreads are perfect for this wonderful treat. You need to try sticky buns!

Red Coffee Maker - Power a Winning Marketing Strategy

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Research of Olympic athletes revealed that those wearing red have a definite benefit over their competitors wearing blue. "We find that wearing red is consistently associated with higher probability of winning," University of Durham researchers Russell Hill and Robert Barton write in the May 19 issue of the journal Nature.

Red is the color that runs through our veins and unites all human beings and many other species. Red is strong and powerful, the red carpet is rolled out for very important people and stop lights and signs are red to insure well being, anger turns your face red and so does embarrassment. Much can be said about red, but it cannot be ignored.

For many people and companies that receive gifts, the importance of gifts has nothing to do with monetary value and everything to do with appreciation and for the giver the purpose of gifting is to be remembered and to be first in the heart and mind of the receiver. That is what is known as Branding.

Coffee is the world's most popular beverage. It is in fact the world's second most traded product, taking a backseat only to petroleum. Coffee is used in most homes and offices all over the world by people of all age groups. You can use the popularity of coffee and the good feelings associated with it as a way to be present in your client's home and office by giving branded red coffee makers as gifts.

By ten o'clock in the morning most people have already enjoyed their first cup of coffee, if it is from the red coffee machine that was given by you or your company; you will be on their minds from early morning till late at night every single day. This will give you a huge advantage over any competitor because your presence is consistent and pleasant.

Other Benefits:

• Your referrals will increase from this particular client in your field of business because of your constant presence. You will spend less time on selling because a quality referral is a sale; all you have to do is close the sale.

• You will never have to guess what gifts to buy for your clients ever again; you can just buy his/her favorite blend, or surprise them with a new flavor. You can personalize it for further branding of you or your company or both.

• You will always have an opening line to start a conversation because you have created a common point of interest, coffee.

• In a passive way you will always be present sharing every important conversation and meeting, you will be part of your client's life.

• When competitors visit your client, coffee will be served from your red coffee maker, it will be like kissing your girlfriend/boyfriend in front of your spouse, it will just not work very well. You will win every time.

The Downside:

• You must always conduct yourself and your business in such away that you never make your client see red or turn red because of you. Over perform and over produce and you will succeed.
